ISI Introduces Next-Generation Hyperlinks with Virtual Link Manager
Self-Updating Virtual Links Migrate from DMS Files and Other Documents, Remaining Functional from Draft to Final Submission
Whippany, NJ & Atlanta (June 17, 2007) Image Solutions, Inc. (ISI), Image Solutions Inc., (ISI), a leader in providing software and services to streamline the drug development lifecycle, announced today launched its Virtual Link Manager (VLM) software tool at the DIA Annual Meeting in Atlanta. VLM addresses a common challenge associated with electronic regulatory submissions: hyperlinks becoming invalid or lost. ISI’s new VLM tool, which is the latest addition to ISI’s PDF Productivity Solutions, eliminates the obstacles and inefficiencies associated with hyperlinks by allowing users to easily migrate links from document management system (DMS) files and other documents and create links at any point in the authoring process from draft to final submission.
VLM creates Virtual Links that look and act like traditional hyperlinks, but because their linking information is stored in a secure database, Virtual Links continually self-update to remain current in any context. As Virtual Links are moved from one file to another, and as content changes around them, they update themselves automatically, eliminating the need to modify source or destination documents. In addition, users can link across document management systems and file shares without having to modify the source files.
“Because Virtual Links move easily from one document to another and always remain current, users save time by creating functional links throughout the authoring process instead of waiting until a submissions document is completely compiled,” said Paul Chung, Senior Vice President of ISI Software & Services Operations.. “VLM also completely eliminates the time-consuming need to update hyperlinks every time a document’s content changes.”
In addition to allowing users to move links between file formats and documents, VLM enables complete user and group management. Users can link keywords, track link history and manage links by locking, deleting and changing properties significantly improving a users and organizations overall productivity.
