Whippany, NJ (April 21, 2003) - Image Solutions, Inc. (ISI) and CAC Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo have forged an alliance for electronic submissions services targeting the pharmaceutical sector in Japan, slated to begin in April 2003.
Currently, new drug applications are submitted to Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare in paper form. A single filing could very conceivably be tens of thousands of pages, weighing down the drug screening and review process with obvious administrative burdens. It is believed to be a key contributor to the lengthening lead times of around 10 to 15 years, for new drug development in Japan. Driven partially by the progress of globalization in the pharmaceutical industry, the need for electronic submissions of new drug applications has come to the forefront in Japan.
Through this partnership, ISI and CAC Corporation will join forces to provide electronic submission services and software applications for drug filing in Japan, the world's second largest pharmaceutical and medical products market after the United States. CAC plans to market ISI's electronic document conversion software tools for electronic drug filing in Japan, and serve as a general point of contact for clients in related services. CAC will primarily perform two business activities. The first is the sale of ISI's electronic document conversion software. The second is the provision of application support and other services for ISI's software. At the same time, CAC will work together with ISI to prepare a comprehensive support service ahead of the formal adoption of electronic filing procedures for new drugs in Japan.
CAC Corporation was established in 1966 for the development and sale of computer software and became publicly held in October 2000, listing on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. It is now engaged in consigned software development services, development and sale of software, computer system operation management and maintenance.
