Pfizer's CRF Project

In mid-1998 we were approached to undertake a CRF scanning and indexing project of approximately 5 million pages by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.

Originally, the project was awarded to a competing vendor because we were considered too small to guarantee a successful result. But by January 1999, when the selected vendor was found to be significantly behind schedule, we were once again approached by Pfizer. The vendor they had originally selected was simply not able to produce the result they had promised because of a lack of both tools and the specific experience necessary to complete a project of this magnitude. ISI produced 20,000 pages daily from January to April. In May 1999, we were asked to produce an additional 1.5 million pages within a 3 month period in addition to the existing volume. We achieved that goal and are currently producing some 50,000 pages per day.

The final output is one PDF file per patient fully bookmarked by visit and domain. These files are accessed from an NT file server with patient TOC pages linked to the individual patient PDF file.

Additionally, these CRF PDF files will be accessed via the Internet/Intranet with full security by using Pfizer's existing Internet browsers.
